The candy comes in clear 100% recyclable plastic bottles, so you can see the vibrant colors of each flavor. All bottles have a safety seal for protection.

Each bottle is clearly marked with Production Date, Best By Date, ingredients, flavor, and nutritional facts.

Recyclable information for each product:

• Bottles are 1 (PETE) located on the bottom of the bottle.
• Caps are 2 (HDPE)
• Straws are 4 (LDPE)

There is a surprisingly small amount of sugar in a 12” straw, but some schools do have mandates prohibiting the sale of products with any sugar in them. (See INGREDIENT AND NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION for more information on sugar content)

You can request an exemption for an infrequent fundraiser. Even federal guidelines allow for a special exemption for foods that do not meet requirements, but which are sold for the purpose of conducting infrequent school-sponsored fundraisers. (REF: S.3307 – Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010)

A Best By Date denotes the optimal period of time during which the manufacturer feels that their product will retain its original quality. The product may still be enjoyed after this date. A best by date is not an expiration date and doesn’t mean that the safety of the food product declines after that date. These best by dates indicate that the flavor or vibrancy might begin to diminish after that date, but if it still maintains good sensory and quality characteristics, you may decide to continue consumption. Your decision should depend on several factors, including how the product has been stored and whether or not the product is discolored or noticeably changed.

However, you can use edible sand art at many events, and it is not likely to be around beyond the best by date.

In an effort to protect all of our customers, we cannot accept returns. However, the candy has a long shelf life and can be used for future events. Cover the pointed tips on the open candy bottles and store in a cool dry place. See ‘Best by Date’ above.

Edible sand art is a hands-on activity for the kids, where they get to design their own masterpiece.

Some adults want to make the straws ahead of time and sell filled straws. Can this be done? Sure, but then the kids miss out on the engaging experience.

The spouts fit into the straws for easy pouring, so there is very little mess. If any candy sand does spill, it can be easily swept up with a broom or vacuum.

Profit can be 50% or higher. The 12″ straw is the most popular size, because it is easy to handle for all ages and offers a good profit margin. SandCrafters™ charges between $1.20 to $1.45 for a 12” straw, depending on the number of straws ordered. Middle and high schools like the 12″ and 18” straws for dances, athletic events, and rewards. Colleges and universities use all three sizes for incoming freshmen orientation, group icebreakers, fraternity and sorority fundraising, and club activities, just to name a few.

Pucker Powder® lasts a long time and can be used for multiple events throughout the year. See ‘Best By Date’. Some schools take advantage of the price break, by purchasing a large order in the fall and using it at Back-to-School night, then again at their Fall Festival, a Holiday Bazaar, Ice Cream Social, and Spring Fair. Some schools order enough for leftovers to use at their End of Year Fun Day/Field Day, or Student Rewards (best grades, good behavior, successful attendance, achieving goals, etc.), incoming Kindergarten classes, or even for graduation to Middle School or High School.

Candy flavors have been selected to ensure that a rainbow assortment of sweet and sour candy will be sent with each order, based on the popularity of each flavor. However, customers can choose their own flavors by specifying the preferred flavors in the Special Instructions when ordering – view our Flavor Chart on our Products page.

Payment must accompany orders, unless other payment arrangements have been made. SandCrafters™ accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, as well as e-Checks, Bank Checks, and Money Orders.

Limited Purchase Orders are accepted from companies, schools and other organizations. C.O.D. orders and Personal checks are NOT accepted.

Orders usually ship within 1–3 business days of order confirmation but can be scheduled to ship when convenient, e.g., closer to the event date, to avoid delivery during school break, etc. Orders ship from Pennsylvania and anticipated transit times can be estimated for a specific mailing address on the UPS website, or by calling SandCrafters™.

Shipping charges will be added to your order and are calculated at the time of order. All orders are shipped via UPS Ground to the 48 contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be shipped either USPS or UPS, whichever costs less. UPS will not deliver to P.O. Box or APO/FPO addresses.

When the order ships, SandCrafters™ will send an email a notification that the order has shipped, along with the tracking number. A separate email will be generated by UPS called “Quantum View Notify” with a link for tracking.

Upon receipt, check to see if everything was received. Familiarize yourself with the product. There will be a checklist enclosed in the box, tips for setup, and a copy of the invoice.

A copy of the invoice will also be emailed when the order is shipped. Please pass the invoice to the treasurer to ensure timely payment and to avoid late fees if not prepaid.

There is a minimal amount of preparation to be done for the Pucker Powder® booth. We recommend preparing Pucker Powder® before the event.

Before the event:

• Remove the safety seals on the bottles you intend to start with and replace the caps with the pour spouts.
• The spouts have a small opening that controls the flow of candy. If you want a faster flow, simply cut the tip a little.
• ADVERTISE. Place a poster(s) in a well-travelled area to get kids excited. Many kids are familiar with Pucker Powder and will plan to get their straw at the event.

Needed on day of event:

• Hang a colorful sign above the edible sand art booth so everyone knows what it is and where you’re located.
• Containers for the straws and caps.
• A container or pocket to keep the money or tickets.
• A pile of singles to provide change

Any remaining candy should be stored in a cool, dry place, and ready to go for the next event.

Prepayment is welcomed, but not required, for schools and school groups (i.e., PTO, PTA, Home & School, etc.). Our terms are Net 20 (payment due within 20 days of the ship date) so you can order as far in advance of your event as you like. The invoice is emailed on the day your order is shipped. We work with you by timing your shipment to arrive a week or so before your event, giving you plenty of time to hold your event and then pay the bill!

Acceptable forms of payment include school/school organization check, school purchase order, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or PayPal. All orders must ship to your school unless prepaid. Please call to make billing arrangements. No personal checks, please.
